About us

One Light is a small gesture: lighting a candle, and knowing that someone else, at this very moment, is doing the same.

A gesture, not an obligation

There is no countdown to respect, no streak of consecutive days to keep unbroken, no reminders nudging you to come back. You can stay for a moment or for ten minutes. You don't have to stay. You don't have to finish. You don't have to do anything. You can simply pray or join a prayer — or just pause and read the intentions expressed by other people, in an atmosphere of stillness and intimacy.

The sky of traditions

Catholicism, Orthodox Christianity, other Christian denominations, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, or no specific tradition: each one is a light in a small sky, and none comes before the others. Every time you feel like praying, the lights arrange themselves in a different, random order. The only thing One Light remembers is the last tradition you read a prayer from, and only on this device: you find it at the center of the sky, like a familiar starting point. It is never a final choice: you can touch another light, or search by name for a tradition or a single prayer, whenever you want. One Light is a space for everyone. The list of traditions represented is not complete: many are missing, and others may be added over time. That is why, among the lights, there is one for those who do not find their own: in the meantime you can stay in silence or read a prayer free from any tradition.

A shared, anonymous chapel

The Chapel glows with the candles lit in the last twenty-four hours, and anyone can find them and choose to join. Sometimes, though, you come across an older one that has begun to shine again: someone is praying for that intention right now, and for as long as they stay, its light stays. All intentions can then be found among the prayers, where you can join the ones that move you, to give them strength. No name, no profile: not even we know who you are. Just one more light among the others, and a counter that tells you how many people are praying together with you right now — real people, not a vanity number.

A moment that breathes

When you choose to read a prayer in the Chapel, the text appears and fades at a natural pace, proportional to its length — never a timer, never a progress bar, never a number. The time that passes isn't seen: it's felt.
